- 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the designation of Ann Arbor Shorinji Kempo as an official Branch of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization. In October, several of us will celebrate this milestone by attending the 2023 Shorinji Kempo World Taikai at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo and the International Study Session at Shorinji Kempo headquarters in Tadostsu, Japan.
- After 15 months of Zoom classes, we are very happy to be back in the dojo with in-person classes under our full schedule. New students are welcome as long as you are fully vaccinated, i.e., you have received the final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 2 weeks prior to your first practice. Please use our contact page to let us know if you would like to attend a class.
- 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Ann Arbor Shorinji Kempo practices in 1991. We will be celebrating this milestone all year!
- Beginning January 2019, after 28 years of renting space in multiple locations in Ann Arbor, we have taken ownership of our own practice space. Our most recent landlords at Kenville Studios of Dance have sold their building to us. We are grateful to all the people who have provided us with a place to practice over the years and we are very happy to be able to provide space to teachers of dance, yoga, and other fitness and movement arts at the new Hoover Street Studio.
